Saltfire Theatre's Beginnings...

Saltfire began as an idea on a rainy winter night, while doing Improv in a garage during the dark days of the pandemic: what if we could create live theatre again?  What would it look like?

The winding road from that chilly, damp garage to our shining closing night of As You Like It under the stars at Finnriver was an amazing creative journey.

Just three years later, we've mounted ten successful productions, with an Encore production of Trifles coming in January 2026, and Much Ado About Nothing planned for late March 2026.    Uncle Vanya (November 2025) was  a critical success and sold out nearly every performance.  Our August 2025 Production of Sherwood had our largest-ever audiences every single night.  We had sold-out runs of both Macbeth (January-February 2025) and An Empty Plate in the Cafe du Grand Boeuf (November 2024), Chekhov's The Sneeze at Finnriver and Fort Worden (August 2024), the sold-out and extended Twelfth Night in a candlelit JFK building at Fort Worden (January 2024) and Taming of the Shrew at both Fort Worden State Park and Finnriver Farm and Cidery (August 2023). We sold out every show for our May 2023 production of David Ives' All In the Timing, and our "Shakespeare in the Orchard" production of As You Like It (August 2022) was a runaway critical success.

We've formed a solid production team ready to take on new challenges. We're now a federal 501(c)3 non-profit - our EIN # is 88-4057593.

Stoke the fire.

Why "Saltfire"?
We are encircled by an ocean of it. It runs through our veins. Salt sustains life and fire is the spark that brings quickening. As we sat around and discussed theatre names, we kept coming back to this elemental image: the sudden, colorful magic that happens when you sprinkle salt on a fire.
